Skyroot Aerospace is an Indian private space company started by former ISRO scientists in 2018. They build small rockets called Vikram to launch small satellites into space. Their rockets use advanced solid and liquid engines to carry payloads of a few hundred kilograms to low Earth orbit. In 2022, Skyroot made history by launching Vikram-S, India’s first privately made suborbital rocket. They are now working to launch their bigger rocket, Vikram-I, which can carry satellites into orbit. Skyroot’s goal is to make space access easier, faster, and cheaper for businesses and researchers in India and around the world.
